How a Banarasi Saree Is Made
Thread by thread: naksha graphs, warping, the pit loom, and the weeks in between.

A Banarasi saree begins as a naksha — a graph of the design. Warp threads are set, the pit loom is prepared, and the weaver builds the field one pick at a time.
Kadwa and kadhua techniques demand extra time: each motif is woven independently rather than cut float, which is why denser pieces command higher prices — and deserve to be felt in person.
